Privacy Policy
How Svear Marketing LLC handles information on the Svear Lights website, when installers buy and set up Svear Lights, and when homeowners use an installer’s visualizer.
Draft: under review before launch. This text is still being reviewed and may change before Svear Lights launches.
At a glance
- This website doesn’t use analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe on its own hosted payment page. We never see your full card number.
- Details a homeowner sends through an installer’s visualizer are delivered to that installer. We handle them on the installer’s behalf and never use them for our own marketing.
- We don’t sell personal information.
Who we are
Svear Lights is a product of Svear, operated by Svear Marketing LLC, a Virginia limited liability company (“Svear Marketing LLC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and keep personal information in connection with Svear Lights.
Svear’s other services are covered by the svear.io Privacy Policy.
What this policy covers
This policy applies to the following, together called the “Services”:
- the Svear Lights website at lights.svear.io (the “website”);
- the Svear Lights software, including the branded visualizers that installers share with homeowners, its design tools, realistic previews, starting prices and lead delivery;
- buying, setting up and onboarding the Services; and
- support and other communications with us.
We play two different roles. For information about website visitors and our customers (the installation companies that buy Svear Lights, called “installers” here), we decide how the information is used. For information a homeowner submits through an installer’s visualizer, we act on the installer’s behalf, as described in Homeowner information in an installer’s visualizer.
This website
You can read this website without creating an account or telling us who you are.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, the website is delivered by a hosting provider (Vercel) that receives the technical information needed to serve each page, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the page you came from and the time. This information is used to deliver, protect and troubleshoot the website.
No analytics or advertising tracking
The website doesn’t use analytics tools, advertising pixels, or tracking or advertising cookies, and its fonts are served from the website itself rather than a third-party font service. If that changes, we will update this policy.
If you contact us
When you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write, and we use them to reply.
The live demo
The demo page shows the Svear Lights visualizer, which is served from svear-lights-demo.vercel.app. The demo runs in test mode: a design you send from it is checked and then discarded, and it is not delivered to any installer. The demo doesn’t include Realistic Preview. For how realistic previews work in an installer’s visualizer, see Realistic previews.
Checkout
Checkout buttons take you to a hosted payment page run by Stripe. What you enter there is collected by Stripe, as described in Buying and setting up.
Buying and setting up Svear Lights
Information you provide
- your name, business name, email address and phone number;
- onboarding information, such as your services and service area, branding, logo and photos, light colors and decorations you offer, pricing settings and budget ranges, your website, and where you want homeowners’ requests delivered (for example an email inbox, webhook or CRM);
- support requests and other messages you send us; and
- files and materials you upload for setup.
Onboarding currently uses the client onboarding form on svear.io, which is also described in the svear.io Privacy Policy.
Payment information
Payments are handled by Stripe on its own hosted payment page, under its own terms and privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number. We receive the details you enter at checkout, such as your name, email address and billing address, and transaction information, such as what you bought, the amount, the date and the payment status, and may receive limited details such as the card type or the last four digits of the card.
Homeowner information in an installer’s visualizer
Each installer gets its own branded Svear Lights visualizer, which it shares with homeowners, for example as a link in ads, messages or on its website. When a homeowner uses it, the installer is the business the homeowner is dealing with, and the installer’s own privacy notice applies. We process the homeowner’s information on the installer’s behalf, to provide the visualizer to that installer.
What a homeowner may provide
- a photo of their home;
- the design they create (lights, colors and decorations) and an image of the finished design;
- if they generate one, a realistic preview of their design; and
- when they send their design to the installer or request a quote (either one is called a “request” here): their name, phone number, email address, service address, budget range and any notes they add.
We also receive technical information needed to run the visualizer safely: the address of the page where the visualizer is used (its own link or, if it is shown inside another web page, that page’s address), without query strings, and the visitor’s IP address, which is used to limit repeated submissions and prevent abuse.
Each request also carries a record of the consent wording the homeowner accepted and when they accepted it. No IP address is collected for this record.
How it is handled
- Until a homeowner sends a request, their photo and design are processed in their own browser, except when they choose to generate a realistic preview: the photo and design are then sent to our servers, which check them and send the photo, but not the design, on to AI providers, as described below.
- Photos are re-encoded in the browser before they are used, which removes embedded location (GPS) data.
- When the homeowner sends a request, their details, design and images are checked and delivered to the destination the installer configured, such as an email inbox, webhook, CRM or automation tool.
- If the homeowner generated a realistic preview, the realistic image may be included with the design they send and delivered to the installer.
- We process and route requests as part of providing the visualizer and its integrations, including, where it applies, a shared lead-routing automation we run on Make. Because of this, we have access to the requests we deliver, and after delivery, copies may remain in the systems we use, as described in Retention.
- After delivery, the installer decides how the request is used, under its own privacy notice. Inboxes, CRMs and other tools that the installer runs itself act for the installer, not for us.
- We don’t use homeowner information for our own marketing, and we don’t sell it.
Homeowners who want to see, correct or delete information they sent to an installer should contact that installer. We will help the installer respond. You can also write to us at svear.io@svear.io.
Realistic previews
Realistic Preview is included in installers’ visualizers. When a homeowner chooses to generate one, a copy of their house photo, reduced in size and with location data removed, is sent to the two third-party AI providers we currently use:
- Google (the Gemini API) receives the house photo and a fixed instruction, sent with a no-storage setting, and returns a dusk version of the photo. It doesn’t receive the homeowner’s design.
- Anthropic receives the same copy of the house photo and Google’s dusk version of it, and checks the dusk version against the photo.
The homeowner’s name, email address, phone number, service address, budget and notes are never sent to the AI providers. Anything visible in the photo itself, such as a house number, may be visible to them.
AI providers process what they receive under their own terms and policies, which may allow them to keep it for a period of time. Realistic Preview is optional for homeowners, and installers can ask us to turn it off. A realistic preview is an illustration and can be inaccurate.
How we use information
Depending on the Services involved, we use information to:
- provide, host and maintain the website and the visualizer;
- set up your visualizer, and route and deliver homeowners’ requests to the installer they are meant for;
- manage purchases, bill for the Services and process payments;
- respond to questions and provide support;
- make realistic previews when a homeowner chooses to generate one;
- protect the Services and the people who use them, and prevent fraud, spam and abuse;
- fix problems, and improve the Services and develop new features; and
- comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms and resolve disputes.
Sale of personal information
Svear Marketing LLC does not sell personal information, and because the website runs no advertising tracking, we don’t share it for targeted advertising.
Retention
We generally keep information about installers and other customers for up to two years after collection or after the customer relationship ends, unless a longer or shorter period is needed for legal, security, accounting, contractual, dispute-resolution or other legitimate purposes.
When we route or deliver a homeowner’s request (a lead) for an installer, copies of that information may remain in the email, automation and infrastructure systems used to deliver and support the Services. We keep those copies only as long as reasonably necessary for delivery, troubleshooting, security, recordkeeping and operating the Services, and delete or remove them when they are no longer reasonably needed, subject to legal or operational requirements. The installer’s own copy is kept under the installer’s own practices.
Hosting providers keep their technical logs for the periods set by their own policies.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards to protect the information we hold. The website and the visualizer are served over encrypted connections, and uploads are checked before they are accepted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of any information.
Your privacy rights
You may ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information by emailing svear.io@svear.io. We may need to verify your identity before we respond. Depending on where you live, the law may give you other rights too, and we will honor them where they apply.
If we hold your information on behalf of an installer, for example because you sent your design or requested a quote through their visualizer, we may need to work with that installer to respond.
Some records may be kept after a deletion request where the law requires or permits it, including for legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, accounting, contractual obligations and disputes.
Children
The Services are not intended for people under 18. Svear Marketing LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
Where information is processed
Information may be stored, processed and transferred outside your state or country through the infrastructure and service providers that run the Services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date.
